Calcot Park Golf Clubhouse

a modern clubhouse set in new landscape among historic buildings and parkland





Colony were approached to bid for architectural services in connection with CPGC’s proposal to fully replace their existing clubhouse with a fully modern and state-of-the-art facility including bars, restaurant, function space, and golf training rooms.

Colony quickly assembled a team of bid partners, put together a package which fully appraised and costed the preliminary information, and together we won the bid and took the project on.

the clubhouse was designed with colonnade and atrium to provide natural light and ventilation to the social spaces above ground and the subterranean facilities

the heart of the clubhouse is well lit and open internally and extends to views over the golf course and towards Calcot Court

the social spaces include restaurant, bar, and sports bar

“we wanted a new Club House on our existing site – not easy when your neighbour is an 18th century listed Mansion House.

the arrival to the clubhouse is level access and welcomes all visitors

restaurant and bar areas overlook the 12th and 18th fairways

below-ground facilities include state-of-the-art year-round 

golf simulation rooms, changing, and conference rooms

relationship, massing, and adjacencies diagrams helped to organise the complex strategic brief into built forms

upper ground floor social spaces are open to large external terraces. below ground changing & training rooms, and conference facilities. sedum green matting, solar panels and services on the roof.

the section shows good use of the natural slope to the site, thus hiding much of the building. elevations are restrained in decoration in respect for the former listed building clubhouse next door

proportions of the adjacent listed building Calcot Court were analysed and represented in the proposed scheme 

analysis of the proposed façade resulting in an exploded view of the proposed clubhouse
