160 Castle Hill is the only grade II* listed house in Reading Borough. It has historic links back to a former Inn “The King’s Arms” and was then owned by the locally renowned Jesse family. 

Colony were appointed to assist the new owner in correcting unauthorised building work which put the building and its owner in a dangerous position.

sensitively restored interiors using lime-based materials, breathable paints, and historic fixtures and fittings

in places the distinction between old and new was articulated in contrasting materials

original cornice with acanthus leaf detailing faithfully restored with lime plaster moulds and drag formed profiles

before and after Colony involvement – note the floor detail showing location of original walls that were unlawfully removed

original tiled floor recreated from file photographs

formal hallway and staircase fully refurbished
